What you'll be doing

As Part of the OCH team the OCH Apprentice duties include the following:A

Support in managing all incoming emergency situations: effective and efficient communications with operational teams, out of hours crews and emergency services to ensure completion to timescalesA

Planning and monitoring of all routine and reactive works using Confirm, dealing with day-to-day issues to ensure repair of defects are dealt with within set timescales.

Update and Review databases, record information and produce data analysis where required. From IT Systems used in the OCH real time including but not limited to, Confirm, one-network.org, Vehicle tracking system, dashboards, T1 Control and T1 Production

The OCH Controller will liaise with Reactive and Capital Managers, project managers and Supervisors to ensure that jobs are scheduled and completed within set timeframes and ensure SPIs are achieved

Makes recommendations for improvements and present solutions to management

Dealing with adverse weather situations such as flooding/snow and ensuring that the relevant gangs are aware of works and that such defects are promptly and accurately recorded on Confirm. Managing emergency road closures where required

Liaising regularly with other teams; Locality stewards, customer services, operations and Design & Build to ensure activities are in place to meet and deliver to ensure all contractual Service Performance Indicators are achieved.

Production of technical data extracted from Confirm reporting in an easy-to-understand format, at the request of the client team or by internal colleagues.

Assisting the OCH lead and colleagues with any other ad hoc tasks that may arise from time to time. Ensuring compliance with Balfour Beatty requirements concerning Legal, Safety, Health, Environment and Sustainability and promoting the principles of a positive culture.A Ensuring that Balfour Beatty Zero Harm policies and procedures are always adhered to.

Developing a good working knowledge of the Countys highway network, highway works and traffic management.

Uses relevant project management principles and tools to scope, plan, monitor and report

Who we're looking for

Takes responsibility for their own work, accepts feedback in a positive way, uses initiative and shows resilience

A methodical approach to processes with an eye for detail.

Good communication skills both verbal and written.

Demonstrates taking responsibility for team performance and quality of projects delivered

A PC literate and knowledge of MS suite

Confident to work with staff at all levels.

Good time management.

Ability to achieve targets, sometimes within tight time constraints, in a calm and controlled manner.
Be a team player, assisting colleagues if required, a flexible attitude
