On Armed Forces Day, we would like to extend our thanks and support to all the dedicated people, both serving and veteran, especially our ever-growing community of ex-forces colleagues.
Hear from some of our ex-forces colleagues on their experience working in the construction industry.
Alongside our joint venture partners, we’ve recently marked a major milestone as part of our works on the west section of the Thames Tideway Tunnel, by completing works on the Frogmore Connection Tunnel. Well done to the entire team who have continued works despite COVID-19 disruptions.
This milestone marks the end of the secondary lining in the Frogmore Tunnel where the team will now go back and clean both tunnels and complete the contact grouting. In total the team have cast 1.1km of secondary lining, totalling to 1420m3 of concrete!
Have you ever wondered how the A14, the UK’s largest road improvement scheme, was completed eight months ahead of schedule? Collaboration was key for the Integrated Delivery Team, made up of ourselves, Costain Group PLC and Skanska, as we worked tirelessly on this technically complex project, to complete improvements across the 33km stretch of road between Cambridge and Huntingdon on behalf of Highways England, even when faced with a global pandemic.

Reflecting on some of our key achievements throughout 2020 has led us to our 50:50 joint venture, Gammon Construction being awarded a HK$12.88 billion (c. £1.27 billion) contract for the expansion of Terminal 2 at Hong Kong International Airport.
Gammon will be responsible for the expansion of the main Terminal 2 building and construction of interconnecting bridges, mechanical and electrical works as well as associated viaducts and roads.
Congratulations to our Balfour Beatty Living Places and Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick teams who have recently completed the refurbishment and modernisation of Lincolnshire County Council’s depots.
Across three sites – Horncastle, Pode Hole and Willingham Hall – the teams have updated and created new office and welfare facilities to allow co-location and collaborative working for BBLP and the Council’s employees.
Having begun highways maintenance works on behalf of Lincolnshire County Council earlier this year, BBLP are now ready to embark on the next phase of works in the county.
More excellent news for Apprentices, Graduates and Trainees across the UK as @borisjohnsonuk praised our increased pledge to young people.
In an article with @fenewsuk, he said: “With firms such as Balfour Beatty continuing their support, and pledging as they did yesterday to increase the number of apprentices they hire, I am confident young people will continue to see apprenticeships as a brilliant way to get ahead and get the skills our economy needs to grow after coronavirus
