About the role

Balfour Beatty have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Project Manager to join our Major Projects group working on a number of exciting energy transition projects.

Reporting to the Project Director, this person will have day-to-day direction over assigned FEED projects leading through to EPC delivery. The Senior Project Manager will have overall accountability for successful project delivery including initiation, planning, design, delivery, monitoring, commissioning and handover/closeout.

What you'll be doing

As a Senior Project Manager, you will have the following accountabilities:

  • Hold periodic project reviews (PRM) and update the Digital Briefcase in accordance with GBL
  • Ensure reports provide relevant information which enables decisions to be made which are informed, cost effective and in line with overall strategy
  • Monitor effectiveness of the Health and Safety Management System and implement improvement solutions
  • Lead a relentless focus on Zero Harm & keep up to date with changes in legislation
  • Develop high performing teams, promote a pipeline of talent and assist with internal training through supporting, guiding, motivating and empowering the team. Using the resources available through training, mentoring and performance management
  • Lead risk/opportunity reviews, present the Risk Register and recommend/implement changes
  • Take a strategic view of subcontract package allocation and ensure contractual arrangements are in place
  • Accountable for KPIs in line with project objectives and monitor performance
  • Ensure that expenditure is in line with the budget and that resources are utilised efficiently to ensure cost control
  • Advocate consistency and reliability of digital data to support successful project delivery data driven decisions.

Who we're looking for

  • Able to demonstrate a track record of project delivery
  • Experience in implementing safe systems of work
  • Good understanding of the standard forms of contracts
  • Proficient in commercial/project management communications
  • Able to communicate effectively both verbal and written with all levels of the organisation
  • Effective team management skills which empower, influence & inspire others to build effective teams. Providing mentoring and support to members of the team where required
  • Good knowledge of performance evaluation techniques and key metrics
  • A record of a solutions based approach to problem solving
  • The ability to see the business vision and inspire this shared vision amongst the team.
