The successful candidate will be working As a Highway Maintenance operative, carrying out services with ground working and drainage.

In addition, the role will be required to assist our sign and structures gangs when we have either holiday leave or sickness elsewhere in the wider team.

What you'll be doing

As a General Operative, you will have the following accountabilities:

  • Carry out a broad range of Highway maintenance activities - safety, efficiently and to a high standard
  • Utilise the effective deployment and use of plant, equipment or machinery
  • Select and undertake appropriate work methods to ensure the work is completed right first time
  • Ensure that work activities meet project work requirements
  • Working within a culture of Zero Harm embedding the 4 Golden Rules within all aspects of service delivery
  • Report all observations Close Calls and Good Practices
  • Carry out all reasonable work instructions via the handheld device
  • Courteous at all times in the public domain.

Who we're looking for

For this role, we're looking for someone who is hard working, flexible in their approach and who is used to working outdoors, often in challenging weather conditions.

In addition, the ideal candidate will:

  • Hold a full UK drivers licence at the time of joining (due to base location)
  • Have construction industry experience
  • Hold a CSCS card at the appropriate level
  • Have a good level of physical fitness
  • Have the ability to work as part of a team and/or individually
  • Have the ability to work outside of normal working hours
  • Possess good timekeeping skills
  • Have the ability to communicate at all levels.
