Join our Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick team as a Senior Construction Engineer (Electrical Workpacks) on the Hinkley Point C Project and you'll deliver complex work that really matters to our business, and the world around you.

Construction Engineers are an important cog in the machine. On receiving a new scope of work from the client, the engineers review the information to assess the scope of works and put together a pack with all relevant documents and information to allow construction teams to successfully complete the installation works.

You will work alongside the construction team to ensure all documents are approved and kept up to date. Any changes or deviation from the documents are captured and documents revised accordingly to reflect the construction works.

About Hinkley Point C

The first new nuclear power station to be built in the UK in over 20 years; Hinkley Point C in Somerset will provide low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes, create thousands of jobs and bring lasting benefits to the UK economy.

Marking a significant milestone in the revitalisation of our nuclear power industry, Hinkley Point C will make a major contribution to the UKs move to reduce carbon emissions. The electricity generated by its two EPR reactors will offset 9 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions a year, or 600 million tonnes over its 60-year lifespan.

What you'll be doing

As a Senior Project Engineer (Electrical Workpacks), you will have the following accountabilities.

  • Independently gather information from subject matter experts to develop, organise, and write detailed work packs.
  • Prepare full detailed description of the work required to be carried out from a given scope of work and specifications provided by customer and internal documents available for pumps, motors, piping, auxiliary units, electrical distribution, HVAC, etc.
  • Packs to include all site activities that need to be considered during
    installation, inspection, site testing and any specialists vendors works etc.
  • Prepare method statements, risk assessments, and other supporting
  • Report issues/concerns with upcoming tasks when they arise to the Work Pack Lead Engineer.
  • Accountable to deliver Discipline Specific Construction Work Pack scope of works to support the MEH construction activities.
  • Ensure compliance with all nuclear safety and site licence requirements.
  • Ensure documents are kept up-to-date and reviewed on a minimum 6 monthly basis.

Who we're looking for

Do you have?

  • HNC/HND in construction or electrical engineering
  • Previous industry experience of creating work pack documents.
  • Previous experience writing documentation and procedural materials for
    multiple audiences.
  • A positive, can-do mentality
  • Strong leader with collaborative nature

You must be able to;

  • Achieve Security Clearance (BPSS or Higher)
  • Able to obtain a CCNSG Safety Passport
  • Having a IOSH managing safety preferred is desired.
