About the role

Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a BIM Coordinator to join our Major Projects team to work in Hinkley Point, Avonmouth

Balfour Beatty are delivering one of the most complex marine engineering projects currently taking place in the world to support the construction of the first new nuclear power station built in the UK in a generation.

The project will see the construction of three tunnels under the seabed that will supply the two reactors at Hinkley Point C with cooling water and then discharge it back into the Bristol Channel.

Our experts will use state-of-the-art technology to excavate a total of nine kilometres of tunnel, which will be lined with 38,000 concrete segments forming 6000 lining rings. The tunnels will be connected to the seabed by vertical shafts and capped with large intake and outfall heads, each weighing close to 5000 tonnes, that allow sea water to pass into the tunnels. Both the concrete segments and the heads are under manufactured to exacting specifications at a purpose-built state-of-the-art facility at Balfour Beattys site invonmouth, Bristol.

As a BIM Coordinator, you will support the BIM Manager in delivering digital works across the project, that support the temporary works, construction and engineering teams and help drive efficiencies, reduce delays to programme and add value across project and ultimately to Balfour Beatty.

What you'll be doing

Some other key responsibilities will be:

  • Support the BIM Manager to produce the Project Information Management Plan and Digital Execution Plan and all documents to meet the Customer Requirements in the Employer Information Requirements
  • Support the Project Team in the delivery of Graphical, Non-Graphical and Documents as an Interface manager
  • Support the BIM Manager to educate people, implement Group Digital Minimum Standards and use technology during project delivery; and to develop model(s) with data integrated into the design, construction and facilities operation/maintenance all in accordance with the Project Execution Plan.
  • Support with the educating the project team and supply chain members for the use and development of the Project Information Model Graphical and Non Graphical (3D Model)
  • Support the Project team to implement processes/culture/technology
  • Research, develop, implement, and review new ways of working which will benefit the project by increasing efficiency, reducing cost, improve quality, sustainability and aiming for Zero Harm Collate data for senior management review

Who we're looking for

You will have the following:

  • Industry previous experience in a similar role.
  • Understanding BIM Level 2 Standards and Protocols
  • Ability to deliver training and support around your given BIM specialism
  • Be proficient in the use of 4D simulation software and extrapolate 5D quantities take-off from models.
  • Experience in design review process, model management, lead BIM clash detection meeting and manage results to resolution
  • Ability to deliver COBie assets requirements
  • Working knowledge of project CDE environment
  • Can create and manage the project BEP and other associated documents
  • Ability to identifying the basic requirements and main deliverables expected from BIM tools and workflows
