About the role

Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a Assistant Operations Manager to join our growing team.

Base location can be ether - Cambridgeshire, Wellingborough, Debry, Coventry Or London

As an Assistant Operations Manager you will be reporting to the Regional Operations or Operations Manager, to ensure the day-to-day compliance of the concession contract and associated supply chain management, in accordance with the company requirements. Participation and support in the wider Connect UK operations will also be an integral part of the role.

What you'll be doing

Key Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Liaison/interfacing with the Client Representative and contract management teams;
  • Reviewing/interpreting supply chain progress reports and participation in progress review meetings;
  • Promoting and developing best practice in health, safety, welfare, environment, and sustainability;
  • Assisting in the preparation and presentation of reports to Clients, SPV Boards and Shareholders
  • Assisting in the management of contract changes and variations;
  • Assisting in the production & delivery of life-cycle and asset renewal forward works programmes;
  • Overseeing of supply chain work delivery and performance
  • Assisting with the preparation of, and managing, budgets;
  • Identification and management of risk & opportunity;
  • Compliance with the Companys Integrated Management System (CIMS)
  • Promoting Connect Roads and Balfour Beatty

Who we're looking for

Essential Skills & experience

  • Engineering/Construction Management/Highways and/or Street Lighting Maintenance
  • Experience in the civil engineering, construction and/or highways maintenance sector.
  • Experience in contract management & supervision;
  • Aptitude in health, safety & sustainability;
  • Experience in working with Public Sector client organisations;
  • Knowledge and/or experience of Highway and Road Lighting design, construction, operation and maintenance

Personal Characteristics:

  • Ability to work within small integrated teams and with client and supply chain representatives;
  • Ability to work in open relationships with all contacts and stakeholders;
  • Demonstrate a natural aptitude for integrity and fairness;
  • Be a good communicator in both written and verbal communication;
  • Client/customer focussed;
  • Ability to take and develop ownership, and be accountable;
  • Ability to prioritise and progress multiple work-streams on own initiative;
  • Ability to work unsupervised and be highly self-motivated;
  • Willingness to expand knowledge;
  • Numerate with associated IT skills;
  • Willingness for regional & national travel, with occasional over-night stays;
