Nationally recognised for how well we develop our people, weve the perfect opportunity for a talented Construction Director to lead on the delivery of a large complex construction project for the Defence sector based in the South West of England.

What you'll be doing

As a Construction Director, you will:

  • Create a culture of openness and trust in reporting of Health and Safety matters
  • Set and manage targets and KPIs in line with Project / Business objectives and monitoring performance, steering towards success
  • Carry out periodic Safety and Environmental Tours as required by the Project Construction Phase Plan
  • Lead / Review Accident / Incident Investigations. Review and appraise findings and lead / direct the appropriate action arising (HFACS and Four Page Reports). Implement culture for change when required
  • Ensure that sufficient resources are allocated to the Works Section and that each has an appropriate level of ability.
  • Ensure site audits are undertaken and takes appropriate action on the findings
  • Manage the implementation of systems and processes for Right First Time approach
  • Drive Lean initiatives to improve project efficiency
  • Carry out constructive analysis of fully resourced programme
  • Manage sub-contractor performance based on KPIs
  • Ensure production of operational target programmes to reflect overall construction programme
  • Take ownership of weekly cost meetings and identification of improvement areas and allocation of appropriate actions to team members
  • Oversee the preparation of a cost plan and manage cost v value
  • Manage the procurement of subcontractors and advise on commercial and operational risks to the scheme and mitigation options

Who we're looking for

You will have:

  • A proven track record in managing and leading large teams in particular major defence projects.
  • Demonstrable experience of innovation, in all fields (Health and Safety, Operational Delivery etc)
  • Strong leadership and management skills, instilling a culture of strong team ethics
  • Wide ranging independent judgement evident, proven track record in this regard
  • Achieved professional accreditation and undertakes extra-curricular activities to advance the profession (eg ICE, IHT, CMI)
  • Experience in the delivery of lean construction techniques
  • Eligibility to obtain SC and DV ClearanceA
