Role Purpose:

  • Assists Construction Manager and Engineering Manager with the planning and daily execution of the construction project.
  • Maintaining aspects of the project schedule as assigned bythe Project Manager, by managing the process of submittal approvals, coordinating the timely delivery of materials, maintaining schedules and budgets.
  • Support and promote a collaborative working environment which ensures client, internal and other stakeholders requirements are effectively managed, and employees feel motivated and engaged to deliver

Due to the nature of our projects, all candidates must hold full working rights for the UK, and also be eligible for Security Clearance.

What you'll be doing

As a Senior Project Engineer, you will have the following accountabilities;

  • Ensure that packages are delivered to programme, budget, safety and quality expectations/standards.
  • Ensure packages comply with good design practice and relevant technical group standards.
  • Ensure that the package is executed with minimum rework.
  • Support the Senior Project Manager/Construction Manager to manage commercial and business risks to achieve targets
  • Understand the relevant NEC 4/4 ECC commercial terms and conditions for your project
  • Support the Senior Project Manager/ Construction Manager to proactively manage the customer relationship during delivery, including change and decision making to effectively manage expectations
  • Ensure accurate and complete records are kept in accordance with the mechanical control sheet, this should include; RFIs, FCDs, WPPs, MCRs, ITPs, Record Drawings and other project Communications/deliverables.
  • Responsible for a package of works will ensure the document control sheet is maintained progressively and that relevant team members are aware of any potential impacts.
  • Management of Supervisors & squads of E&I operatives
  • Management of Industrial Relations in line with the NAECI Working Rule Agreement
  • Ensure that plant, access, labour and materials are planned and organised in accordance with appropriate interfaces for the associated works, this should include any procurement activity relevant to a package.
  • Support the Senior Project Manager/ Construction Manager to successfully implement the Gated Business Lifecycle at every opportunity.
  • Concisely produce/review the WPP and ITP for a particular activity, this will ensure quality assurance mechanisms are contextualised, four weeks prior to works start (progressively check).
  • Draft site instructions for review and issue by Project Management team including detailed descriptions of works required, location, programme impact, cost impact and reference to any client led change event.
  • Implementation of Short Interval Control including running of daily section review meeting and production of a weekly section report via BIM 360
  • Complete safety observation card; target 1 per week, recorded on BB APP.

Who we're looking for

The following qualities/experience are required:

  • Experience of supporting delivery of Delivery of major projects within the nuclear industry or other highly regulated industries where safety and quality are at the forefront of everything we do.
  • HNC, or equivalent, in Electrical.
  • APM qualification is beneficial.
  • SMSTS / IOSH qualified.
  • Previous experience of engineering works in a nuclear environment.
  • Previous experience of managing the installation of environmental monitoring equipment.
  • Can obtain the required security clearances.
  • High levels of integrity.
  • Able to constantly focus on meeting/exceeding customer requirements and expectations.
  • Knowledge and experience of Project Management methodology
  • Strong People Management skills in a highly unionised environment
  • Previous experience of being an Electrical Senior Authorised Person/Authorised Person (Desirable) Ability to work across conflicting interest groups to develop solutions to complex
  • operational and commercial problems.
  • Knowledge of QA Plans, Inspection Checklists, Lifetime Record compilation essential
  • Experience in stakeholder management and management of subcontractors is essential
