About the role

Balfour Beatty Highways maintain, manage and operate major highway networks across the UK and support local authorities creating communities where people want to live work and play.

Our Balfour Beatty Highways business has a terrific opportunity for a Programme Optimisation Manager as part of the Connect Plus Services (CPS) team based in South Mimms, Leatherhead or Dartford.

Why This Role Matters:

  • By engaging with teams, optimizing programs, and maintaining open lines of communication, you play a pivotal role in ensuring smooth operations on the M25 network. Your work directly impacts the efficiency of our projects and the satisfaction of stakeholders, including the public who rely on our services.

If you thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and enjoy the challenge of optimizing processes and plans, this role offers an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on infrastructure management.

You will play a key role in improving how we plan and manage projects on the M25 network. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Advocating and aligning CP/CPS investment priorities with our optimization efforts.
  • Building relationships with stakeholders to gain support for our optimization strategies.
  • Ensuring data quality and conducting checks to make sure our plans are accurate.

This role is a perfect blend of technical acumen, data analytics, and stakeholder coordination aimed at ensuring seamless road space booking and network management within the Area 5 network, especially on the M25.

You will also handle other tasks related to program optimization, data management, and problem resolution. Your ability to adapt to evolving needs and maintain composure under pressure will be put to good use.

What you'll be doing

  • Lead our programme optimization platform, overseeing how we collect data, plan projects, and review our plans.
  • Make sure the data we use meets our standards and is suitable for our planning tools.
  • Adapt our planning tools as needed to keep them effective.
  • Train and support teams in using our planning software, making sure they handle data well.
  • Support other optimization or planning processes when required.
  • Connecting with contract teams, maintenance teams, and third-party stakeholders. Discuss upcoming projects and programs, ensuring alignment and clear communication.
  • Dedicate time to recording updates and changes to programs and plans. Attention to detail is crucial to maintaining accurate records and keeping our optimization tools up to date.
  • Sit down with your teams to outline optimization strategies. Explain and brief them on the current optimized plans, gathering valuable feedback from those on the ground.
  • Meet with various teams within the organization, such as planning, asset management, structures, design, and others. These meetings provide a platform to answer questions, address concerns, and ensure alignment on priorities and needs.
  • Put your expertise to work by running optimizations within our system. This hands-on task allows you to fine-tune plans and programs to maximize efficiency and minimize disruptions.
