Role Purpose:

  • A senior business leader that can influence, create and then articulate strategy into implementation
  • Hold overall accountability for successful delivery of multiple projects/programmes/frameworks
  • Provides management, leadership and inspires a multi-disciplinary team of all levels of seniority to achieve a common goal
  • Decide the most appropriate means of aligning customer benefits and business objectives

What you'll be doing

  • Adheres to the Group Min Expectations, BMS and other governance
  • Establish governing structures and frameworks
  • Approves Business Cases and chair various reviews throughout the GBL
  • Prepare both internal/external reports and liaise stakeholders
  • Maximise internal trading opportunities through active pursuit
  • Establish relationships and manage various stakeholders
  • Assess the suitability of projects and ensure delivery aligns with the businesss objectives
  • Conduct portfolio meetings and draw upon support across (S)BUs
  • Identify, evaluate, plan and track the business benefits of projects and programmes
  • Ensure a relentless focus on Zero Harm & keep up to date with changes in legislation
  • Carry out periodic Safety & Environmental Tours / promote observation and safety initiatives
  • Advocating safety excellence, communicating safety with passion and credibility, in order to inspire, motivate and lead the P3M teams to achieve the vision
  • Balances resourcing needs across projects and programmes in accordance with the portfolio
  • Ensure resourcing plans are commensurate with the portfolios capacity & capability
  • Ensure the portfolio and programme teams understand their roles and responsibilities
  • Support, guide and empower project and programme managers
  • Motivate the team and manage performance (PDRs), undertaking training and mentoring
  • Develop high performing teams, promote a pipeline of talent and assist with internal training
  • Lead risk/opportunity reviews and recommend/implement/approve/reject changes
  • Make systemic changes across the portfolio to mitigate risks
  • Manage risks and capitalise on opportunities that may be common across the portfolio
  • Uncover and resolve any issues or conflict that are delegated up from project/programme level
  • Ensure best practice / lessons learned / continuous improvement is both embedded within the relevant Span of Control but also shared across the other Ops Leads across SWES
  • Active engagement with the supply chain throughout the GBL
  • Establish and maintain relationships with customers throughout the GBL
  • Where appropriate, review procurement strategies and ensure they are commensurate with the portfolios capacity and capability
  • Promote and facilitate utilisation of the principles of Continuous Improvement
  • Appropriate use of leadership indicator health check reviews (Power BI where appropriate)
  • Relentlessly promote a quality agenda in pursuit of defect free delivery
    Schedule
  • Ensure programme schedules are commensurate with the portfolios capacity and capability
  • Ensure P3M teams utilisation of project controls and Short Interval Control
  • Integrate outputs and outcomes of projects and programmes in accordance with the portfolio
  • Evaluate budgets and financial forecast to maximise profitability
  • Ensure budgets and forecasts are commensurate with the portfolios expectations
  • Ensure project and programme expenditure is in line with the portfolio constraints
  • Understand standard forms of contracts and their T&Cs
  • Incorporate operational, commercial and corporate constraints into decision making
  • Understand commercial mechanisms; contracts, bonds, warranties etc.
  • Review contracts, negotiating conditions/qualifications, negotiating tender and
  • Agreements
  • Aware of Digital Group Minimum Standards and operate with appropriate level of digital tools
  • Utilise digital construction methods to drive optimisation, safety & performance
  • Advocate consistency and reliability of digital data to support successful project delivery
