Our work matters to millions. It'll matter to you too. Join our Regional Buildings team as a Quantity Surveyor based in AWE Aldermaston and you'll be a big part of fascinating, complex, varied and meaningful work.

Role Purpose:

Experience in managing all costs relating to building and civil engineering projects

Work within a fully integrated client contractor team all focused on achieving a successful project outcome

Supporting other more senior members of the commercial team in delivering the varied commercial duties as well as being responsible for procuring and managing our supply chain

Actively seek to minimise the costs of a project and enhance value for money, while still achieving the required standards and quality for our Customers.

What you'll be doing

As a Quantity Surveyor you will:

Governance:

  • Measure, record & value work unsupervised in accordance with appropriate rules and procedures
  • Measure & interpret specifications & drawings
  • Build up estimates from first principle including net and gross estimates
  • Translate measurement from drawings and Specifications and prepare Bills of Quantities and Schedules of rates
  • Plan commercial activities to meet requirements of section programmes
  • Have an understanding of delay and disruption programmes
  • Collect information required to specify procurement requirements
  • Record and document information including registration of interest
  • Collation of cost and value information
  • Measurement of works and agreements with subcontractors
  • Be responsible for the preparation and agreement of final accounts;
  • Agree and resolves final accounts with sub-contractors;
  • Ensure compliance with BMS and Group Minimum Commercial Expectations;
  • Continually monitor projected costs to completion in line with budget;
  • Assist in ensuring effective records are maintained to support claims and that applications for payment for variations are issued in a timely manner.
