About the role
Balfour Beatty have an exciting opportunity for a Temporary Works Design Engineer to join our Rail team based in Derby or Birmingham, forming part of a multidisciplinary Design & Engineering organisation that encompasses Civil, P-Way & OLE Design.
The role offers scope for an enthusiastic temporary works engineer to develop both technically and professionally in the rail environment with a Tier 1 contractor.
We are open to both full time and part time candidates and offer a flexible working policy
What you'll be doing
- Undertake and deliver the design of structural and geotechnical temporary works projects in the rail environment from inception to design completion, including:
- Working platforms
- Shoring solutions
- Slope stability
- Temporary structural stability (e.g. bridges & buildings)
- Temporary Road Rail Access Points (RRAPs)
- Development of construction sequencing
- Manage the delivery of temporary works solutions through coordination with both internal and external stakeholders
- Developing solutions with due consideration for health andsafety, constructability, quality requirements, sustainability and diversity with the end user in mind
- Engaging in the development of team capability through mentoring and supporting others
- Prepare technical assurance documentation for temporary works deliverables (e.g. Network Rail Form C)
Who we're looking for
- Degree or HNC in Civil Engineering or equivalent
- Previous experience in Temporary Works Design
