About the role

Balfour Beatty have an exciting opportunity for a Temporary Works Design Engineer to join our Rail team based in Derby or Birmingham, forming part of a multidisciplinary Design & Engineering organisation that encompasses Civil, P-Way & OLE Design.

The role offers scope for an enthusiastic temporary works engineer to develop both technically and professionally in the rail environment with a Tier 1 contractor.

We are open to both full time and part time candidates and offer a flexible working policy

What you'll be doing

  • Undertake and deliver the design of structural and geotechnical temporary works projects in the rail environment from inception to design completion, including:
    • Working platforms
    • Shoring solutions
    • Slope stability
    • Temporary structural stability (e.g. bridges & buildings)
    • Temporary Road Rail Access Points (RRAPs)
    • Development of construction sequencing
  • Manage the delivery of temporary works solutions through coordination with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Developing solutions with due consideration for health andsafety, constructability, quality requirements, sustainability and diversity with the end user in mind
  • Engaging in the development of team capability through mentoring and supporting others
  • Prepare technical assurance documentation for temporary works deliverables (e.g. Network Rail Form C)

Who we're looking for

  • Degree or HNC in Civil Engineering or equivalent
  • Previous experience in Temporary Works Design
