About the role
Balfour Beatty have a fantastic opportunity for a Sub Agent, to work on our BEP project in Sellafield, Cumbria.
The Box Encapsulation Plant project is one of the most important construction
projects at the Sellafield Site, the plant will play a vital role in Sellafields 100-
year clean-up programme by taking nuclear waste recovered from the sites
original wasteplants and encasing it in concrete so it can be stored in a modern
building. The plant is primarily designed to deal with waste from the Magnox
Swarf Storage Silo, one of four legacy waste plants prioritised for clean-up by
Sellafield Ltd.s owner, the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA). Alongside
that work, the plant will also receive certain wastes from the other three legacy
waste stores, the First-Generation Magnox Storage Pond, the Pile Fuel Storage
Pond, and Pile Fuel Cladding Silo.
The BEP Joint Venture project will safely design and deliver a Plant and the works in
accordance with the requirements of the contract to enable conditioning of wastes
from the various donor plants, carried out in line with the Employers needs and to
the satisfaction of stakeholders in the Box Encapsulation Project (BEP).
As a Sub Agent, you will report to the CS&A Construction Manager, providing engineering and site managerial support for civil, structural and architectural work scope for delivery of the BEP Project
What you'll be doing
Some other key areas will include: -
- Produce short term programmes for site works and report site progress to CS&A line managers.
- Undertake temporary works reviews and produce temporary works briefs for issue to the temporary works manager.
- Produce QA/QC control plans for site works and manage those plans to the completion through the LTR files.
- Produce method statements, risk assessment, and undertake periodic reviews.
- Daily management of the engineering teams and supporting those teams during onsite works scope.
- Management of the requirements set out in the work scope.
Who we're looking for
You will have the following:
- Degree in Civil Engineering
- Site based Civil Engineering/Construction background
- Commercial knowledge
- SMSTS/IOSH
- Experience in supervising sub-contractors
- Ideally nuclear new build/nuclear decommissioning experience
There will be a requirement for a BPSS security clearance check.
