About the role
Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a Head of Operational Excellence to join our Highways team to work on the M4 Smart Motorway project in Reading, Berkshire.
What you'll be doing
As Head of Operational Excellence you will be accountable for the development and implementation of a Business Improvement and Operational Excellence strategy for our GBP800m M4 Project and for the day-to-day management and delivery of multiple change projects and programmes on the scheme.
Focusing on leadership of the embedment of a culture of continuous improvement and ensuring a consistent approach is taken across the scheme to the development, implementation and management of a continuous improvement programmes.
This will necessitate the development of a business improvement framework and co-ordination of on contract support, co-ordinating the identification and prioritisation of projects through the use of business intelligence, utilising lean methodology where appropriate.
This role will also require you to develop strong links to the Highways England Lean team, ensuring that the M4 Project is aligned to the strategic intent of our Client. This is a key role within the Highways business, and will require relationships to be developed across Highways England, Contract Teams and Key Highways Stakeholders
Who we're looking for
You will have previous experience within an Operational Excellence role; have a commercially minded focus on embedding a culture of continuous improvement; including utilisation of lean methodologies for meeting business objectives, whilst building business intelligence capability to identify business improvement opportunities.
You will be able to develop and build a change team network across the business to provide Change Management capability and support for each contract; ensuring an appropriate governance framework is in place, whilst overseeing and supporting planning, design and delivery of significant business wide change projects.
You will also be a confident and strong communicator with the ability to coach staff to support the development of a change capability within the organisation.
