About the role
Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a HSE Manager to join our talented team to work at our Highways A63 Project based in Hull. As a HSE Manager working on one of our major highways projects you willprovide advice, support and direction to the project Senior Management Team and HSES Advisors to enable them to support project teams to deliver Zero Harm in a coordinated manner.
What you'll be doing
- Undertake Health and Safety compliance evaluations, inspections, and audits at prescribed intervals, record outputs and liaise with operational management to ensure actions are completed.
- Work with the HSES Director and RDP HSES Lead to promote Zero Harm and continuous improvement of performance through special projects, local initiatives and HSES improvement .
- Carry out project and business sector HSES performance reviews using lagging and leading indicators.
- Develop professional relationships with customers and specifically their HSE professionals.
- Ensure team review and investigate accidents, incidents and near miss events in accordance with Balfour Beatty standards to identify and share lessons learned, ensuring actions and recommendations are tracked.
- Monitor, collate and interpret health and safety performance data including close out of inspection and accident investigation reports, and provide management reports on a routine basis.
- Liaise with HSES colleagues within Highways and Specialist Services and attend regular co-ordination meetings providing timely data to inform progress.
Who we're looking for
- Corporate Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (or working towards).
- NEBOSH Construction Certificate / Diploma.
- Must have detailed, technical knowledge and experience Health and safety legislation, regulations and guidance.
- Previous H&S experience in Highways (essential)
- Experience of providing leadership and support to operational and functional teams.
- Working knowledge of HSES BMS or equivalent dynamic databases (desirable)
